As you all know, this is my first time doing this. So... I'm sorry if there's any grammar mistakes because English is not exactly my mother language. Also, this is not an in-depth review of this movie. I'm just going to rambled a bit about this movie.

This movie centers on the Emerson siblings, Beckett (the older brother) and Samuel (the younger brother, played by me favorite actor Thomas Brodie-Sangster :3), and their father Warren (a faded Shakespearean actor plagued by addictions to alcohol and gambling).

The Emerson brothers worked together to pay their father's debt. Samuel worked as a street performer by delivering a Shakespearean monologues (a.k.a a distraction) while his brother, Beckett, picks the pocket of the surrounding crowds. Which of course, is still not enough to pay their father's debts and for a living.

Then, Beckett learns of his friend Larry's "bussiness" which is making counterfeit money. So, he eagerly became his partner. But of course that will also lead to another problem...

Right, I'm gonna stop right there. I don't want to spoil too much. Also, this is a review/meta post, I'm not gonna retell this story. So, if you want to know more, go watch it.

This movie is.... great. It's amazing. Unfortunately though, it doesn't get much recognition as it should. Or maybe that's me being biased by TBS . ___ . But in all seriousness, this movie is great. Great acting, great story.

What I like most of this movie (besides TBS :3) is the relationship between this 2 brothers. They're different, a total opposite if I do say so myself. They're like... yin and yang. While Samuel is the pure and innocent little brother, Beckett is the complete opposite, he's the one who pickpockets people, the one who make counterfeit money, he's the one who did all the dirty work because didn't want to dragged Samuel down to the dark pit that Beckett is in.

Also, as an older brother it's obvious that he's the protective one. I mean, it was because of Roman (the guy who Warren had a debt from) threatening to "have a different conversation with Samuel" that got Beckett to work with Larry. Beckett will protect Samuel from anyone, starting from Roman, his own father, and even himself. That is why he didn't tell Sam about what he does to get all those money.

Now that I think about that, they're awfully similar to the Winchester brothers from Supernatural XDD

Another thing that I'd like to point out is, Samuel was always associated with light. Seriously, it was as if they're trying to emphasize that Sam is the "angel" in this movie (as if TBS isn't cute/adorable enough, they just had to bring out his angelic side XDD). I mean, look at these :

That doesn't last long though. Because at the end of this movie, Sam shot Roman in the face. And the light was gone.

Which was predicted at the very beginning of this movie.

Look at that poster. It says "Coming soon : Death Angel" When I rewatched this movie I was like, "Okay...." . ____ .

So.... yeah. I think I've rambled long enough. I don't think you'd want to read a post from a weird girl who was trying too hard to be a meta writer. But seriously though, this movie is great you should watch it because... well, Thomas Brodie-Sangster XDD.

Kidding. The story is also really good. It's all about loyalty, family and sacrifices with a side a romance. But the romance is not in the center of the story. As I said before, this movie is all about the brothers who clawed their way out of the hell hole that they lived in.... with a lot of consequences.

So... thank you for reading this (even though I don't think anyone would want to XDD). Till next time folks.
